Right Field is a difficult position and several Argos play it well.  Right Field is thought of (incorrectly) by some, as a place to hide your worst fielder.  That may be true in Little League Baseball but in NCAA Softball, you'd better have an excellent defender out there.  At this level, left handed hitters can pull even the fastest pitchers.  It is a fact that the better right hand hitters know how to go with a pitch and hit twisting line drives to right.  The dugout is the only place to hide a poor fielder in softball.

ONE OF THE ARGOS OUTFIELDERS IS FRANNY BELL

TRISH POPE IS ANOTHER GOOD HITTER ON A DEEP AND TALENT LADEN TEAM

At a banquet, Bob Huggins once said to rival coach  Pete Gillen something to the effect that he (Gillen) had the best players in the country from the best high school programs.  He added: "It makes you wonder how you could ever lose a game."  The inference was of course, Gillen couldn't coach.   I hope it doesn't sound like I'm saying the same thing about the UWF coach.  I'm not.  There is a great deal of talent on this team.  But softball is a popular sport and there are many good high school programs sending players to the college ranks.  Yes, UWF is loaded but so are a lot of teams at this level.  You'd rather have talent, but a good coach is needed as much with a skilled team as a less skilled one.  Bum Phillips once said of Tom Landry that he could take his team and beat yours or he could take your team and beat his.  That's a little much to lay on the local coach but you ought to come out and observe for yourself.
